I have pre-ordered Thanksgiving and the 4th of July and I will be writing stitch guides for them. As always, the canvas price includes my stitch guide.

You can pre-order now on our website.

Susan Portra’s class in Long Beach

I just came back from Susan Portra’s class “Bring Your Canvas to Life”. It was the only needlepoint class at market to completely sell out, and there are many reasons for that.

The class was a perfect blend of a great canvas, a superb stitch guide, wonderful threads and beads and a fabulous teacher. Susan paced the class well and taught us all several somethings new. And, Susan Portra is funny!

This canvas is one that I will finish (without changes) and enjoy in my home. The canvas is beautifully painted on 13 mesh canvas and even 18 mesh fanatics will enjoy stitching it.

I will be able to order it from Alice Peterson Saturday, so if you are interested in the canvas and Susan’s stitch guide, drop me an email. Or, you can place an order for it on our website.

Sharon G classes the Bristly Thistle

I had the pleasure of eavesdropping on 4 days of Sharon G classes and I am fired up to create wonderful stitch guides for my upcoming projects.

Sharon started the classes with a mini lesson about creating stitch guides that started with how you look at a canvas. Each student came away with a packet to keep for reference. Sharon also brought stitched samples of some of her canvases that elicited many “oohs” and “aahs”. They were wonderful inspiration for everyone. The results at the end of each day were really pleasing.

Another great aspect of meeting with an artist and teacher was getting to see how her creative process took her fabulous designs to stitched pieces that were even more incredible than the original bare canvas. I also give Sharon kudos for her very well written and illustrated stitch guides; they include great detail and clear instructions.

All in all, we had a great time.

Tapestry Tent needlepoint Trunk Show

Liz Goodrich-Dillon of Tapestry Tent is the most amazing artist. Her canvases are so beautifully painted that they could be framed without stitching. Her animals are lifelike, her holiday canvases (especially Halloween) are fun and her Christmas stockings are incredible. I think her large Nativity set is one of the best in needlepoint.

I especially like the new Christmas and Easter marches and will be doing stitch guides and classes for these. They all are available on our web site at 20% off until July 17th.

…and I know what I’ll be doing tonight—getting a “private lesson” from Amy and her special guest, Kelly Clark.

Volume 7 “The Ins & Outs of Needleweaving covers attached and detached needle weaving. Watch how to weave such things as an open pocket, a door latch, cute little sheep’s ears and seaweed. Kelly Clark demonstrates Picot needleweaving, a woven basket technique that covers the basket, the rim and the handle, and semi-detached weaving for a scarf.

Volume 8 is all about Spider stitches—raised, oval, padded raised, ribbed horn, woven spider and more. Who knew there were so many variations to add punch to our canvases? Amy, of course! With 18 “chapters” this is loaded with new techniques.

These are in stock now and are $38 each. Here’s to learning new stitch techniques!
