Goodnight moon needlepoint

I love this Goodnight Moon canvas. I have such fond memories of reading that book to our daughters and I think it would be a perfect gift (perhaps with the book) for a new baby or a young child.

Santa ornament from a Collection of Designs

I love this Santa, but I love the end result when you use the stitch guide from Needlepoint 202 even more. Ruth Dilts created magic with beading, couching and the twisted stem stitch, among other techniques. I’ve raved about the book Needlepoint 202 before and I have taught a class from the book. It features 12 different techniques, each wonderfully illustrated. The bonus is that it also features 12 stitch guides with complete directions and very clear color photographs. The book and one of the featured canvases (say, like this Santa) would make a super present. You can see the finished canvas on our website.

There are more Christmas needlepoint ideas on our website too. (posted by Michele)

Charlie finished!

Just in time for his 3rd Christmas, Charlie is done! Some of my favorite things about this project:

I couched petite fluffy fleece for Santa’s beard and mustache.

I used a punchneedle to make uniform looped turkey work for the fur on Santa’s robe. It was a bit tricky, but the results are very even, more so than doing turkey work “free hand” would be.

I used the same darning stitch for Santa’s robe and for the background. The different threads give very different effects. I really like the way the stitch on the robe allowed the hand painting to show.

The Christmas tree was stitched with 3 different colors of Impressions, using layered lazy daisy stitches.

I have resolved that I will have more confidence in my stitch choices and not rip out sections as often as I have in the past. We’ll see how long that resolution lasts—I have two Liz stockings in the works!

Yankees Needlepoint Study Buddy

How cool is this? One of our customers stitched this for her young son, a Yankees fan. The “study buddy” is fun, but classic, so he will enjoy it for many years to come.

We can finish your canvas as a study buddy in baby, toddler or adult sizes. The Yankee stadium canvas is finished as an adult sized pillow. See more finishing ideas and Baseball canvases from the Needlepoint Broad on our website. (posted by Michele)

Bunny Dreams needlepoint by Susan Roberts

I think this bunny would be great in a kitchen, a child’s room or a sunroom. It’s fun and very colorful. You can see many more Susan Roberts canvases on our website. (posted by Michele)

Needlepoint Study-Buddy Headrest

I found these “Study Buddies” at the Dallas show. Although this model shows antique embroidery as the inset, they look terrific with a needlepoint canvas inset. The finishing can be done in 3 sizes—small for a young child, medium for a “tween” and large for adults. Send a fabric sample that you would like to match, and we can make a custom “Study Buddy” to go with any décor. See more finishing ideas on our finishing web page. (posted by Michele)

Children’s Needlepoint Projects

These are perfect craft projects for children. Imported from England, they were featured in a recent issue of Country Living. They not only provide your child with a fun stitching craft, but they are great for playing “dress up” when they are finished. See them all on our website.

Tooth Fairy needlepoint by JB Designs

These little pillows done on 13 mesh are a perfect gift for a child, grandchild, godchild, niece or nephew. They are fun to stitch (and can be done quickly) and the tooth fairy will really appreciate an easy to find spot for the tooth exchange. View them all on our website.
